TVSpy's Mission
The mission of TVSpy is to connect television professionals with each other and with professionals in related media industries, as well as with unique inside information to give them an edge as they build their careers and businesses in video media.
History

TVSpy's history began over 20 years ago, when the legendary talent scout, Don Fitzpatrick founded ShopTalk, TVSpy's daily newsletter, in 1983 to help keep television executives in the know. Today ShopTalk is regarded as the "Daily Bible" in the broadcast industry with over 25,000 subscribers.
In 1993, Don launched the first version of TVSpy.com. In 1997, the TVSpy Watercooler was born, quickly becoming THE place to exchange information and ideas in the industry. Well over 750 messages are now posted each day.
The popularity of the original TVSpy Watercooler gave birth to the following new discussion boards in recent years:

Marketing Matters – dedicated to issues in promotions and marketing.

Next Generation TV – dedicated to digital media and emerging opportunities in television

Breves – dedicated to Hispanic media

The Sandbox – dedicated to media professionals who desire to vent their political views

Hollywood Network – dedicated to television and video media entertainment

In 2001, TVSpy was acquired by Vault, a career information company with the vision of providing media professionals with resources to connect with each other and to provide them with inside information to help them build even more fulfilling careers as Vault has done in law, finance, consulting and so many other industries.
In 2006, Don passed away. ShopTalk is now edited by longtime TV news executive Tom Petner. Tom is currently the Director of Temple University's Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab (MURL) in Philadelphia. Previously, Petner led several successful broadcast news operations, first as Vice President and News Director at WWOR Television in the New York market, and then as Vice President of News at WTAE Television in Pittsburgh.
